5 Day Challenge. Can You Eat 20 Different Plants?

Variety is the cornerstone of a healthy diet, healthy microbiome, and healthy life. To get enough different kinds of plants is the challenge. Variety will give you a broad spectrum of nutrients for balanced, optimal health. Plus, you’ll avoid getting too much of something. For example, although spinach is a healthy food, it does have naturally higher amounts of oxalates, which can make it harder for your body to absorb calcium. Changing it up can mitigate the effects.

You may be surprised at how much better you feel when you get a variety of plants and it can shake you out of any eating rut you might be in. Also, focusing on variety instead of focusing on how much you’re eating is arguably more enjoyable. Do your best to get the whole food, like whole grain, or apples with the peel included.

Keep a log so you can keep track of your number. Whole grain bread counts as a plant. Beans count as a plant. Oatmeal is a plant. Turmeric is a plant. Seeds, nuts, fruits also count as plants. Mushrooms are fungi, but we can count them as plants in the challenge. 

Repeat this challenge often to level up your diet and your health.
